Cooley and Countryman both turn in their best performances of the season

LEXINGTON, OH – Exclusive Autosport’s USF Juniors squad tackled the technical twists and turns of the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this past weekend as rookies Brenden Cooley and Kaylee Countryman continue to gain valuable experience in the ultra-competitive USF Pro Championships Presented by Continental Tires. The doubleheader weekend delivered mixed fortunes, but both drivers showed grit and growth on the 2.258-mile road course in their best finishes of the season. Brendan finished in the top-10 in both races, including a season-best fourth in Race 2, while Kaylee scored a ninth in Race 2 after being driven off track in the opening race on Friday afternoon.

“Absolutely thrilled for both Brenden and Kaylee,” said Michael Duncalfe, Co-Owner and CEO. “They have come a long way in their development this season. They are consistently running in the top 10 and into the top five. It is a testament to their dedication to their craft. I am so happy for them both to see that all of their hard work is paying dividends so early in their careers. Many great things to come from these two, and we look forward to Road America in a few weeks.”

The opening race of the doubleheader took place on Saturday morning with Brenden starting seventh. The 15-year-old ran a consistent race, ultimately finishing ninth. He clocked his best lap of 1:26.4064 and completed all 20 laps, earning 12 points. Kaylee began the race from 13th and crossed the line in 17th, one lap down, due to being hit off track on Lap 3. Although she got stuck in the sand and then had to come in after the contact for the crew to check over her car, causing her to go a lap down, she went back on track and fought for passes, gaining a huge amount of wheel-to-wheel experience. Both Cooley and Countryman’s pace in the opening race was competitive with the leaders.

The second race of the weekend took place Saturday morning in comfortable temperatures. Cooley improved on his Race 1 performance with a strong start from seventh, immediately advancing to fifth. He hung onto the lead quartet for many laps, but ultimately lost the draft, holding a comfortable gap on the rest of the field. Cooley was fifth to the checker, but a technical DQ to the winner moved him to fourth in the final classification. He posted a best lap of 1:25.9569 and was just 9.2 seconds off the winner, marking his best finish of the season. Countryman also made gains, finishing eighth from 13th on the grid.  This race marked a breakthrough for both drivers, with Cooley narrowly missing the podium and Countryman securing her first top-10 finish in USF Juniors.

Cooley’s P4 finish in Race 2 was a standout, showcasing his ability to battle in the lead pack, and Countryman’s steady improvement and clean driving earned her valuable points and confidence heading into the next rounds. With momentum building, Exclusive Autosport’s USF Juniors duo will look to carry this form into the next tripleheader at Road America later this month. The team’s development-first approach is clearly paying dividends as both drivers continue to climb the learning curve.
