PORTLAND, Ore. – Turn 3 Motorsport will head to the 1.964-mile, 12-turn road course of Portland International Raceway this weekend for the championship deciding final round of the USF Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Continental Tire. Turn 3’s Lochie Hughes currently holds a 35-point lead going into the finale, and with two races left to complete, the 2024 championship title and INDY NXT scholarship prize will be decided over the course of this weekend’s events.
#44 Lochie Hughes // The McGinley Group / Private Wealth Planning / Grip Auto Timepieces: “I am looking forward to getting to Portland and battling for a championship. It’s been a great year with the Turn 3 Motorsport crew, so I’m hoping to end the season on a high. Portland International Raceway is an interesting track with predominantly right-hand corners, so it will be important to figure out the setup quickly and stay up front. I’m ready to fight for it!”
Danny Dyszelski has had a noteworthy season thus far, earning two podium finishes and a pole position–and all on different circuits—in his rookie campaign. The 16-year-old is also sitting seventh in the championship points and will be looking to finish his first USF Pro 2000 season on a high note.
#3 Danny Dyszelski // Vera Guitars / Formula Imports / Charlotte Mechanical: “I am ready to close out a strong rookie season with Turn 3 Motorsport in Portland. We’ve had a really great year so far, and I really enjoy racing on this track. I’m hoping to collect another podium finish here at Portland International Raceway to end the 2024 season.”
Tyke Durst has had his ups and downs throughout the year but successfully met his goal of earning a top-ten finish at Road America in his learning season. The 21-year-old has come very close to repeating that feat on multiple occasions and will go for it once more in Portland to close out a solid rookie year.
#33 Tyke Durst // FHI / Relay Payments / Drive Toward a Cure: “I am focused on closing the year as strongly as possible this weekend at Portland International Raceway. It will be my first time in the great Northwest. Portland looks like a fun track. It's characterized by long-duration corners where you need to stretch the tire. Thankfully Ernie Gonella spent a lot of time with me on these types of corners. Nothing would make me happier this weekend than rewarding this team with a result they deserve.”
Pre-event testing will take place tomorrow (Thursday) with two sessions ahead of official practice, qualifying and Race 1 on Friday. Race 2 will happen on Saturday afternoon where the 2024 USF Pro 2000 Championship title will be decided.
